Market Your Email List

Now that you’ve signed up for MailChimp, it’s time to market it to an audience. If you already have a following on social media, that’s perfect. Make it known that your list exists. It’s also wise to offer some form of incentive for new signups. I guarantee it, you’ll see subscribers in no time.

But what if you don’t have a social media following? I suggest you keep reading.

No Social Media Following?

I admit, growing your email list without an existing following can be tough. That’s the unfortunate truth. However, it’s not impossible… You just have to put a bit of extra effort in. Perhaps the best way of gaining subscribers from scratch is to purchase an ad spot on any of the major advertising networks. Sure, it’s going to cost you a little, but the end result could be more than worth it.

If advertising is an option for you, I recommend going with their Google AdWords or Facebook Ads. I have experience with both platforms, with each offering a quality service.

Your ad should feature something enticing — something that yells, “This will benefit you!” This can either be a free eBook of some kind, perhaps a consultation, or even a physical product at no cost. Going this route could be costly, so be sure to budget things before moving forward.

Host a Giveaway

Another effective way to attract subscribers is to host a giveaway. The product you are giving away doesn’t even have to relate to your content. If it’s something others want, they will naturally take an interest.

Require a signup and they’re set. You don’t even have to spend all that much, either. For example, I would look into hosting a giveaway for the Amazon Echo Dot. It’s a product that most people seem to enjoy, and it can be used in a variety of scenarios.

Boom! Easy subscribers. Just be warned, you’re likely going to lose a few of those subscribers within days of the giveaway ending, but most of them will stick around.

Don’t Overdo it

Finally, it’s important to not oversell your email list. Mention it occasionally and whenever appropriate, but not to the point where others may become annoyed. The same can be said for sending emails. Doing either of these things can cause subscribers to unsubscribe rather quickly.

Approach with patience and your email list will grow in time. Just don’t forget about it.
